SPACE 4-room HDB flat
SIZE 969 square feet
LOCATION Teck Whye Road
HOME TO A family of two
DESIGNER Sabrina Mieko Kee from Renozone
RENO PERIOD Four weeks
LIVING One of the main highlights in this vintage-industrial themed home is its front entrance. Made of wrought iron, it was customized to look like traditional gates from Singapore’s yesteryear, but fitted with a swinging hinge for modern use. In the rest of the living room, the raw, textured finishes of the carpentry were juxtaposed with the warm tones of the vinyl flooring.
KITCHEN In a space defined by large expanses of stonewashedeffect surfaces, this kitchen contrasts the grey-hued flecks with white subway tiles that suggest a hint of Scandi design. To make the kitchen’s interior design appear more spacious, only half of the wall was covered with subway tiles to visually elongate the space. As there’s no designated dining area in the house, a breakfast counter was installed for the occupants to have their meals or do their kitchen prep work on.
MASTER BEDROOM This bedroom was filled with bright furnishings and quirky knick-knacks that reflect the occupant’s eclectic decorating style. A long study table allows the homeowner to display his treasured ornaments and keep his miscellaneous belongings stored neatly in drawers. It also provides generous worktop space for him to work in a well-lit spot.
B R I G H T IDEA One of the key traits of an industrial-style home is to leave things exposed. Create a unique feature by incorporating lights along the piping.
